The mobile division of id Software is looking for talented and creative artists skilled at creating a wide variety of conceptual, character, environment, interface, and other game media. Ideal candidates will present previous and current work demonstrating and ability to create and refine rapidly, with particular emphasis on the ability to create assets that work well in low resolutions.
Responsibilities Include:
- Work collaboratively with art director, designers and programmers in defining the overall look, style, and atmosphere of the game.
- Create concepts, textures, characters, environments, and interface assets.
- Create limited 2D and/or 3D animation for characters and environments.
- Refine approved approaches, reduce to game resolution sizes and polish, and optimize for limited color palettes.
- Utilize 2D graphics tools (especially Photoshop) for art creation.
- Utilize modeling tools (especially Maya) for modeling characters and environments.

Requirements: |
- Substantial examples of current and past work demonstrating a strong understanding shape, perspective, texture, color, lighting, and camera angles.
- Ability to work quickly through asset creation, and also be able to move easily back and forth from one asset type to another.
- Extensive experience with appropriate and relevant 2D toolsets
- Self-motivated, but able to take feedback and criticism and properly reflect comments in work.
- Excellent team player with very strong work ethic and a collaborative/cooperative attitude
- Passion for games and gaming
- An understanding of and appreciation for milestones, schedules, deadlines and efficient game development processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Designers are responsible for the layout and construction of game environments. In addition to physical construction, id Mobile also expects designers to proactively contribute creative gameplay ideas throughout the game creation process. The ability to balance aesthetic and gameplay needs with technical limitations is necessary to achieve the award-winning worlds id Mobile creates. Applicants should provide specific examples of relevant work. These examples can be in the form of playable game levels, screenshots, scripting examples, video captures, or any other method that conveys the work being demonstrated. Examples should also include descriptions of exactly what the applicant is responsible for and what creative processes were used. |
Requirements: |
- Firm understanding of first person action shooters and RPGs and the game theory and design principles behind successful examples.
- Ability to balance the scope and playability of levels within very limited memory constraints.
- Familiarity with world building tools and/or relevant 3D software packages.
- Self-motivated and focused worker with good communication and collaboration skills
